A family in Rajkot has accused a doctor at Shiv Hospital near Mahapuja Dham of medical negligence and overcharging, alleging that the treatment left the patient in a critical condition and pushed the family into financial distress. The doctor has denied all allegations and claimed he is being threatened.
The issue came to light after the daughter of patient Jitubhai Solanki shared a video on social media seeking justice from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. She alleged that her father’s condition worsened after surgery at the hospital. She said the family could not afford her school fees due to medical expenses, forcing her to quit her studies.
Wife alleges surgery cost raised from Rs 50,000 to Rs 4 lakh
The patient’s wife, Payalben Solanki, said her husband visited Shiv Hospital about a year ago for treatment of a mouth ulcer. She alleged that the doctor initially said it was a minor procedure costing Rs 50,000. However, she claimed the hospital later performed cancer surgery and collected about Rs 4 lakh in instalments.
