A pacemaker was implanted by the cardiologist on right side of patient’s chest. Unfortunately, infection developed few days thereafter.

There could be a possibility or need for altering the procedure when patient is being operated. It is within the contours of law. The doctor / surgeon cannot be held negligent in such instances as long as they follow standard protocol.

A young couple were receiving infertility treatment at the hospital. The lady was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. She underwent an uneventful laparoscopic procedure for removal of fibroids.

A gynaecologist, an experienced one, was recently held negligent for leaving a gauze inside the patient after performing LSCS. What is significant about this case is that the doctor levelled the blame on a previously performed LSCS, which perhaps did not go down well with Consumer Commission.

The patient, a 74-year old senior citizen, underwent cataract procedure performed by an ophthalmic surgeon. He developed intra-operative complications and hence needed secondary scleral fixation of IOL.

The patient was operated for removing a lump in his left thigh. During the procedure, sciatic nerve was also removed by the surgeon which resulted in post-operative complications. The patient lost sensation in the left leg.

An NRI from Australia suffered an injury on his right knee. He approached the orthopaedic surgeon who performed a procedure. But the patient continued to experience pain thereafter for longer than expected.
