SRINAGAR: Tensions ran high in Pushwara Khanbal on Monday after the family of a young woman alleged medical negligence at the Child and Maternity Hospital Anantnag, claiming it led to her death.
The incident has prompted the Health and Medical Education Department to order a formal inquiry.
As per details, the deceased, Khushboo Jan (25), wife of Zubair Ahmad Bhat of Pushwara Khanbal, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, where she underwent a surgical delivery.
According to the family, she was shifted to a ward post-surgery, but her condition deteriorated rapidly.
Family members said that despite repeated alerts, no timely intervention was made, and she was eventually referred to GMC Anantnag. “She remained on a ventilator and passed away late Monday night,” a relative alleged, demanding “a fair and transparent investigation.”
Locals from Pushwara have joined the family’s call for accountability, insisting that the matter be probed thoroughly to determine responsibility.
Hospital authorities, meanwhile, said a committee has already been set up and an internal report will be submitted within days.
