A case has been registered against two doctors in connection with the death of a patient, allegedly caused by negligence during treatment at a hospital in Koregaon Park.
The accused have been identified as Dr. Nilesh Kondre and another on-duty doctor from Budhrani Hospital. The case was filed following a complaint by the patient’s wife at the Koregaon Park Police Station.
The deceased, Pravin Mhase (35), a resident of Sant Gadge Maharaj Vasahat in Koregaon Park, had been admitted to the hospital on August 20, 2024, after experiencing breathing difficulties. The incident occurred between approximately 12:30 pm and 3:45 pm on the same day, during which he died while undergoing treatment.
According to police officials, after the complaint was lodged by his wife, Urmila Mhase (30), all relevant medical documents were seized and sent to Sassoon General Hospital for expert review.
A medical committee at the hospital conducted a detailed inquiry into the treatment provided. The committee’s report concluded that negligence and lapses in medical care contributed to the patient’s death.
Based on these findings, Koregaon Park Police have registered a case against the two doctors. The investigation is currently being led by Assistant Police Inspector Jitendra Khairnar.
