HYDERABAD: Tallapalli Raja Sambayya, a 60-year-old reserve sub-inspector (RSI) from the Siddipet commissionerate, died while undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital’s Hitech City branch on Friday. His family has alleged medical negligence.

Sambayya was admitted on March 7 for treatment of lumps on his hip. Doctors reportedly performed a brain surgery on March 10, followed by a second procedure the same day after complications arose. The hospital informed his family of his death on March 20.

Relatives claimed that doctors did not respond when his blood pressure spiked, resulting in a brain haemorrhage. Based on a complaint by his wife, Tallapalli Tirupatamma, police registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC for suspicious death.

Investigating officer Venkata Ramana said the body was shifted to Osmania mortuary for postmortem. Allegations of negligence will be examined after a team of doctors submit their findings. Further investigation is underway.
