    Pretoria – South Africa –1st June, 2017:   Last week, Pretoria's North Gauteng High Court awarded Phetogo Mabalane's mom R23399150 for damages her child suffered when she gave birth to him at Nelspruit's Rob Ferreira Hospital in May 2010.

    The mother, Thandeka Sedibe, said the Mpumalanga hospital staff were negligent and delayed performing a C-section on her, putting her baby's health at risk. She had arrived at 7am and the C-section was only performed just before 2am the next day.

    Nottingham – UK – 29th June, 2017: A mother was left ‘hysterical’ after discovering that her baby son had been circumcised without her permission. The unnamed woman from Nottingham revealed that she has been battling for authorities to take action for four years after the discovery.

    Speaking to the BBC, she said that on the day of the alleged incident, she had opened her son’s nappy to find him ‘covered in blood’. The child had reportedly been staying with his paternal grandparents when he was circumcised in July 2013.

    Singapore – 29th June, 2017 A paediatrician has been suspended for three months for failing to diagnose a one-year-old boy with Kawasaki Disease. 

    The Singapore Medical Council's (SMC) disciplinary tribunal said in a statement on Tuesday (Jun 27) that Dr Chia Foong Lin did not discuss the possibility of Kawasaki Disease with the boy's parents despite having considered that he could have it. As a result of the late diagnosis, the boy was exposed to the possibility of developing severe cardiac complications, it said.

    The women are now starting legal action for claims of medical negligence.
